Renegade by Devout Coffee – Fremont

  • Coffee

Recently, we decided to stop at this lovely shop in the Centerville district in Fremont. We absolutely love Devout Coffee and when we heard that they are opening a coffee shop that also serves hot food, we had to give them a visit.

We arrived pretty early in the day and managed to snag a parking spot in their tiny parking lot so be mindful if you decide to visit. There is an entrance on the parking lot side, which is also where the line would form.

Interior

Absolutely loved the overall aesthetic and ambiance. There are 2 levels: The Lower level has a long bench shared seating, tables and booths for larger parties; upper level has some couches and more small tables for 2. Since we went when they first opened up for the day, there weren’t too many people there yet, so we chose a booth.

Interior Ambiance

If hot food is not your thing or if you just want a quick bite to eat, they also have a small pastry case with some pastry items in it. They also sell bottles of their cold brew!

The Coffee

Knowing that it’s Devout Coffee, we know that their coffee is going to be excellent. We ordered a pour-over and an oat latte.

Brunch

Renegade is still in a soft-opening phase so they are serving food in a limited items basis. We ordered french toast and avocado toast this visit. After we sat down and got settled in with our coffees, our food came shortly after. Let us tell you, we weren’t disappointed!

Everything that we ordered

French toast is excellent – not too sweet, not too oily, and perfectly fried.

But the stand out of the 2 was the avocado toast!

Avocado Toast

You might think, “ohhh, it’s just another avocado toast”, but no, this avocado toast features chili oil cashews on top! The chili oil on top gives it the perfect amount of savoriness and a little bit of a crunch to contrast with the soft mashed avocado. Served on a perfectly toasted slice. For those worried about the spice level, there is no heat in the spice. We were initially concerned about the size of the avocado toast, but it’s actually quite filling. Nevertheless, we did not leave the shop hungry.

Everything was so good that as we were leaving, we got back in line and got ourselves a mocha and a pastry to go (even though we were already full).

If any of that sounds delicious to you, give them a visit!
