8.8 Miles felt like a struggle – Getting back into the thick of things
As I have talked about in my running last post, I’ve restarted serious running training for the 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend’s Dopey Challenge. As a part of accountability in my training and to share my experience, I am documenting my training here. So that anyone can follow along in my journey in training for this challenge.
02/17/2025 – Finding my base
Haven’t been running long distance, I’m set to find out how much can I actually run. Well that turned out to be 8.8 miles. Below are the stats from the run.




After 8 miles of running, I was done. My legs were sore. But I knew, this is just the beginning. Training must continue! Even though I didn’t go all out, I ran as much as I could without hurting myself.
02/21/25 – Weekday Tempo Run – or at least try..
My aim is 4 to 5 days of running a week. Short runs running tempo or threshold, and generally flatter/faster. But for this run, I was curious what my 5K time would be. It turned out a bit better than I thought. I really thought I’d be at 9:30/mi, and I’m happy about it!




And that was it for the week. In the coming weeks, I’m aiming to ramp up distance and time as my journey continues. But with a 2 week long travel vacation coming up, my training will definitely take a hit…
